Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Past Paper Match (“we”) collects at pastpapermatch.com, why, who processes it with us, and what you can ask us to do with it. It goes with our terms of use.

1. What we collect

• Account: your name, email address and a scrambled (hashed) form of your password. We never store the password itself.
• Your material: the pages you upload (photos or PDF), their titles, the sections you ask to exclude, the topic summaries, your notes, and your searches with their results.
• Subscription and payments: your plan, its dates and usage (searches and pages), and for each payment its amount, currency, status, date and reference. We never receive your card details; you enter them on our payment provider's secure page.
• Technical data: the date and time of sign-ins and failed sign-in attempts, your IP address for limiting repeated attempts, and error logs on our server.

We do not ask for any other personal details, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

2. Why we use it

• to run your account and provide the service: summaries, matched questions and your history;
• to apply your plan and its limits, and to process payments and refund requests;
• to send you account emails: email confirmation, password reset and important notices (no marketing emails);
• to keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your uploads for any purpose other than providing the service to you.

3. Who processes it with us

We share data only with the providers needed to run the service, and only what each one needs:

• An artificial intelligence service provider reads the pages you upload and the past papers to write the summary and find matching questions. It receives your uploaded pages and the text of your topics, but not your name, email or payment data. Under its terms for business customers it does not use this data to train its models, and it keeps it only for a limited time. Files we store with it for your material are deleted when you delete that material or your account.
• Our hosting provider stores the database and files on our server.
• Our email delivery provider sends account emails, so it receives your email address and the message.
• Our payment provider processes card payments (Visa or Mastercard) under its own privacy policy. We receive only the payment result, not your card details.

Some of these providers may process data in other countries, including the United States. We may also disclose data if the law requires it.

4. Who can see your data

• Other users never see your material, notes or results.
• The administrator of the service can see account details, subscription and payment records, and can open your account to give support or to check misuse of the service.

5. How long we keep it

• Your account data and material are kept while your account exists.
• Deleting a material deletes its pages, summary, notes and results.
• Deleting your account deletes your account, materials, summaries, notes and search history. Daily backups are kept for up to 14 days, so deleted data disappears from them within 14 days.
• Payment records (amount, date, reference, plan and the email used) are kept after an account is deleted, for accounting and to answer disputes.

6. Security

Connections use HTTPS, passwords are hashed, repeated failed sign-ins lock the account for a while, and every user can only reach their own data. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will tell you.

7. Children

Users under 18 may use the service only with the permission of a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian can contact us at support@pastpapermatch.com to ask about, or delete, the data of their child.

8. Your choices and rights

• Delete: you can delete your account yourself from the Subscription page (Delete my account), or delete any material on its page.
• Access and correct: you can see your data in the app, and ask us at support@pastpapermatch.com for a copy of it or to correct it.
• We answer requests within 30 days. We may ask you to write from the email of your account, to confirm it is you.

9. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms. They expire after 7 days at most. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is important, we will tell you by email or in the app.
